Movie Review: Smurfs 2

Have you ever had someone forget your birthday? How about an entire village? In July 2013, Smurfette thought at least one smurf would remember.

Directing this 105 minute animation/comedy/family/fantasy is Raja Gosnell.

Some of the smurftasic cast is: Neil Patrick Harris as Patrick, Jayma Mays as Grace, Brendan Gleeson as Victor, Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf, Katy Perry as Smurfette, George Lopez as Grouchy, Anton Yelchin as Clumsy, John Oliver as Vanity, Hank Azaria as Gargamel, Christina Ricci as Vexy, J.B. Smoove as Hackus and Mr. Kinkle as Azrael with Frank Welker doing the voice for Azrael.

Gargamel's still up to his evil ways. Since he can't seem to catch a smurf he's gone to plan B, make more smurfs. Enter the naughites! Only problem is, they don't come out that smurfy shade of blue. How to turn
them blue? Only two indivials know that secret formula, Smurfette and Papa Smurf. With a evil plan and a window of opportunity, we have a smurfnapping. Now, it's up to a handful of little blue heroes and their friends, Patrick and Grace to pull off a rescue. Then stop Gargamel before he can gain all the power he wants for his magic.

This was a really smurfing good flick. It's got a fun story with a great playthrough. It keeps up to the standards set by the first one. Family friendly, funny and great special effects.

It's rated PG.

4 stars for this magic filled adventure.
